I saw the tweets. I just wanted to confirm that he did in fact turn down $49MM.

If so he held out for an extra $1.75MM?

I know the guys skilled and whatnot but 7.5 for 7 seems kinda a gamble for a guy that has been known to need a top end player to play with

Was a good deal for both of them, Ryan will be the centerpiece to build around and Ottawa can now attract some talent like you said.

It's a little high, but had to be done, and with the cap going up its pretty standard

i understand why they had to do it .... but still a bit of a gamble i think

hopefuly for them turris , zibs and others can continue their development and Lazar develop as hyped. Then this signing pays off
if not they may be paying 7.5 for a 60 point guy

LOL That's untrue. He played alongside top players in Anahiem...you can't compare last season to his previous season...he was playing injured for half the season with a hernia. You're just jealous his gonna make you squeal like a sea lion everytime he scores on Bernier.

I'm just glad they got him signed and over with. 7.25/season is the cost of business now. The speculation would have been BRUTAL from some Ottawa media/fans if this dragged on all season.
